It's official. I'm shutting this blog down.

I started this blog 4 years back together with something beautiful, jotting down those happy and sad (mostly happy) memories along the way. I guess that kind of beauty doesn't last and it is going down together with my blog. Sadness.

Now, it's time to start anew again. This is something that I've been wanting to do for a very long time - my very own personal space. Yup! I'm starting a photo blog at my very NEW domain at www.eringoh.com. Please give me your full support and I promised I'll be a constant blogger just like before! Royal Park Rajapruek

It's time for me to start writing again as I plan to take an English examination in 1 or 2 months time. The fee is kinda expensive, hence I need to stop slacking around. I spent the last 2 days researching on this exam and with that amount of money I'm gonna pay, I need to pass with flying colors! Huhu.

My project just ended in early July and I am so relieved! The past 6 months were a nightmare. Almost everyday, I stayed back late and sometimes I even came back to work during the weekends. Really the "no-life" kind I tell you.

Anyways, right after my project, I had a trip to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, Thailand. Nicely planned isn't it? It was a birthday gift for Dad. Two or three years back, I bought him air tickets to KL / Penang as birthday gifts and it has become a practice nowadays. It makes me wonder where we will going next year. LOL.

I'm back!

Our flight was at 7 am and we reached Chiang Mai around 9 am. Since I'm traveling with my folks, we opted for tour of course. Parents should be more adventurous, don't you think? Hehe. Our first stop was the Royal Park Ratchaphruek. The Ratchaphruek is actually the national flower of Thailand.

This building featured the Lanna (one of the states in northern Thailand) architecture.

Royal Park Rajapruek is basically a very large garden with beautiful landscapes. You can find different international gardens reflecting nations like Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, etc. Different kinds of trees, tropical plants and flowers can be found here too.

20 Baht per pax. This is considerably cheap.

After that, I had this super duper delicious curry mee called Khai Soi. It's not spicy but sour, just like tomyam. It's so yummy that I had it again the next day at some hotel.

I opted for Mihun as I'm not a mee person. LOL.

I'll blog on Wat Doi Suthep tomorrow. If you're off to Bangkok, you must visit the Grand Palace. If you're off to Chiang Mai, you must visit Wat Doi Suthep. LOL. I'm just repeating what people say! So stay tune for more!

One fine evening, she decided to do a bit of spring cleaning for her little bedroom. So, after sweeping, she went to find a mop and guess what she found!

A bird nest? FYI, there are at least THREE mops lying around the house and she claimed that she mopped her room exactly 1 month ago! That proves how frequent the tenants of the house mop this house isn't it? LOL.

She then found a stick and decided to poke a hole to peep inside. Yikes! She saw moving baby creatures!!! Her first impression was they did look like baby hamsters! ROFL.

Few months being in hiatus and I came out with something THIS interesting! How awesome is that? Hehe. I'll be BACK!

Chap Goh Meh

I know it's a little bit late for that but what the heck. Chap Goh Meh marks the end of Chinese New Year and this year, I went town for the very first time to witness Penang's grand celebration and 'throwing mandarin oranges' event.

Yes. Just write any of your wishes on the orange and your wishes will come true. Yeah right. =P

The myth was like for those unmarried maidens to throw these oranges into the river and bachelors will fish them out elsewhere and present back to the ladies. All you need to do is to jot down your name plus contact and pray that the ink won't get washed away when the oranges are thrown into the river. =P

It's funny to see how many people actually throw the oranges into the sea; regardless of age and sex. One uncle even asked us to write the Chinese word 'Fatt' (strike rich/prosper) on TWO of his oranges. It's a shame that I do not know how to write that word. HAHAHA!

In order to prevent us from polluting the river, the authority is getting ready to scoop back all the oranges thrown into the sea. Now, where are the guys who are supposed to fish the oranges?
DEFINITELY NOT those TWO I hope.

Apart from that, we also walked around to witness the Tua Pek Kong yearly procession. It's been a while since I last witness this kind of thing and apparently, some of the aunties here actually went from one decorated 'vehicle' to another and pray to the Gods.

Less crapping now as I should get back to work. Here are some photos I took there. =P

The Great Ocean Road

It's February now. The last time I blogged, it was in December last year. Maybe I'll just update my blog every 2 months from now on. Hehe. I'm thinking of changing this blog to a photo blog. What do you think? Blogspot sucks. I have to edit my pics 1 by 1 to get the following effects. Sigh.

Well, these photos were taken during our road trip to the Great Ocean Road. During my stay in Melbourne, we almost went for road trips EVERYDAY. The petrol expenses was slowly killing us. LOL. The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia's great scenic coastline drives; a 243 km stretch of road along the south-eastern coast. It was my second time there and yet I still find the place AWESOME. Maybe it's because this time, I came with my baby. My 18 yrs old cousin got himself a four thousand bucks DSLR just for this trip too. Rich bastard. =P

Taken at Gibson Steps, this is the only place (correct me if I'm wrong) where you get to go
down to the beach and have a clear look at one of the 12 Apostles.

This is how near you can get. Actually I could go closer. Just a bit lazy. =P

This place is called London Arch. It's used to be connected, forming a bridge. The arch closest to the shoreline collapsed unexpectedly 10 years ago. =(

We went to the 12 Apostles on the second day as it was very late already. We stayed overnight at Apollo Bay (for 2 days) and it was quite pricey for the ten of us. Yes! I went there in a big group. But it was fun. We managed to dig up old stories right before we went to bed. Uncles were busy telling stories about how my old folks dated back then while the small ones (including me and my cousins) were laughing all the way. =)

All in all, we started our journey around 10.30 am. That was my third weekend in Melbourne. We managed to explore Geelong, Torquay, Lorne, Apollo Bay, Port Campbell and Springvale in 3 days. Would love to explore Warrnambool (farther up from Port Campbell) to see the great whales one day.

Oh crap. I've been neglecting my blog again. Uploaded these pics on Dec 8th. Published the post on 19th Dec. Great! =P

Restoran Ikan Bakar Din is always swarmed with people on any day. If I am not mistaken, they are only opened during lunch time. Located at Kepala Batas, you can easily spot this place if you are coming from Sungai Petani. The shop is just on your left if you are heading to the town itself and you can see LOTS of cars parked by the roadside.

This is my second time there and I still say the quality of the food never drop!
Still cheap and YUMMY!

It's hard to find an empty table, judging from the amount of people.

After eating, I went around snapping pictures and I can sensed a bunch of eyes looking at me. LOL. Many of the locals must be wondering what is there to snap? The employee was kind enough to me. Look at what he did? Hehe.

All in all, the food is just great. Cheap too! I think we spent roughly 15-20 bucks per pax to try most of the stuffs they have. Simply a great try! ;)

Why does flamingo stand on one foot? Some of the answers include avoiding heat loss to the water. By submerging only one foot, flamingos were able to cut that in half.

I have a list of things to buy/complete (preferably this year) and it's piling up!

~~Book ticket home for CNY.~~ Spent 600+ and I should be spending less than that IF I book my tickets earlier.
Service my car. The last time I serviced my car was in April and now it's Nov. I'm supposed to service my baby at 12,000 km and I'm now at 14,000 km. Great! My car's mileage is only 14k after 2 years of driving!!!!!
Service my laptop. The display died on me a month back and I've been dragging to fix it!
~~Own a Sony 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens.~~
Own a macro lens. No idea what model to get yet. Hmm.
Get a nice camera bag for my babies. Any idea what brand should I be getting?
Get my Adidas ballerina shoes! I still couldn't find them anywhere in Penang.
Finish my research and project's deadline before my long break!
Lose weight! Hahaha! FML really!
Book ticket to my buddy's wedding.

Sigh. What a long list. I'm now busy doing a new project and I'm quite happy as I'm finally out of the misery of fixing software defects. Yay! There are so many things to learn and I need to complete a certain number of things before the Christmas break! Just can't wait for it! Woo Hoo!

Anyways, here's what I've been up to. I went to the Penang Bird Park in Mainland last weekend for some photo-shooting. I must have donated tons of blood to the tenants there as there are at least 10 mosquito bites on each of my legs! Now I see lots of red spots on both legs. Huhu.

During the picture taking process, we need to consider a number of things. Among them are lighting and angles. The picture below is the Cinderella Castle at Disneyland, Tokyo. What they are trying to achieve here is Hidden Mickeys and there's nothing wrong about it. Hehe.

Well, it's all about the tricks of the light and angles. And also the sun of course! I'm sure the designer of Westminster Bridge was not trying to achieve Hidden Mickeys in the first place! ^____^

All Souls' Day

According to Wiki, All Souls' Day commemorates the faithful departed. This day is observed in the Catholic Church and coming from a Catholic family (mum's side), we celebrated by paying her a visit. Grandma has left us since year 2004 and it's still hard to believe that it has been 5 long years!

The day started by going to Dad's favourite kopitiam at 7th mile. We reached about 8.30 and our food only came an hour later. That proves how popular the kolok mee is! Located somewhere in 7th mile, we have been coming to Molly Siang Seafood Cafe on our way to visit Grandma at Nirvana Memorial Park, somewhere in Bau.

What I don't like is the auntie who's slow in taking order. Business is just too good I guess.

The 'cheng' kolok mee without any ingredient.

You can opt for fishballs (cousins love it!), pig's livers, prawns, pork, etc.

3 layer Tea. Originally started in 7th mile Kuching, they even have a website for it!
From Bottom to Top - Gula melaka, evaporated milk and the tea itself!!
You can even find this in some of the mamak in Penang too. LOL.

We reached about 10.30 and the day was already so hot. Ughh! After placing the orchids that I got for Grandma (Grandma loved orchids a lot when she's still alive), we started lighting up the candles and said our prayers. Of course, I was only watching when they prayed. For those who do not know me, I'm a free thinker! If I stay long in Kuching, perhaps I might be a Christian now. Haha.

When Grandma just passed away, we would visit her grave every weekend. Then, some relatives told us not to visit her that often as she belongs to a different world now. It would be sad for her to see us on and off when we visit her. Sigh. Wonder how true can that be?

Hectic short weekend was over. I was back in Kuching and it's really a very short~~, very cheap~~ trip that I was only able to entertain certain people. One in particular was someone I was very keen in meeting for the first time. ;)

Blue Colored Rice

I've tried red and brown colored rice before but this is the first time I tried blue colored rice. How cool is that? LOL. Pardon me for being such a noob. =P

Pic was taken during Pasar Ramadhan last month. It's just opposite USM, Bukit Gambir.

One of the things that is a MUST to try when you visit Kelantan or Terengganu is their oh-so-famous "Nasi Kerabu". I just know this recently. Else I would have tried that when I visited Kelantan last time. LOL. Oh well. Nvm. You can still hunt this at the Malay pasar malam around you. =P

Nasi Kerabu is normally served with fried fish or chicken, fish crackers, salted egg, chili stuffed with fish and coconut (just like yong tofu) and so on. The rice is served with some special coconut-based gravy called 'tumis' which is simply gastronomic. Yummy! What makes it so unique is the blue colored rice of course! It's not just some artificial coloring you see. The color is extracted from some flowers called Butterfly Pea / Clitoria (nearly type clitoris wtf) Ternatea or in Malay, Bunga Telang.

Yea. That's the ~~clitoris~~ flower I am talking about. Looks like morning glory isn't it? Haha. Oh well. That's the key to the real taste of Nasi Kerabu. Simply lovely! Now who can tell me where to hunt yummylicious nasi kerabu in Penang? =p~

Chilis Overloaded

Last week was 2 of my colleagues' birthdays. As usual, the kaypoh (busybody) me went and organized a birthday celebration and I hate it when people started to question me bunch of stuffs like ...

Who else going?
Who's driving?
Where to eat?
Who's buying cake?
I'll tell you later, need to check with my girlfriend first. (This is the most annoying stuff I often hear. Can't you just decide without asking your gf's permission?)

What's more frustrating is one of the guys actually told me he had a very important date with the gf. Then, when another girl started to question him, he said he just want to get a new watch. Yeah. Getting a new watch is pretty important to him. -_____-"

Anyways, back to the birthday celebration ... We ended up going Chilis to celebrate, thanks to someone's idea *cough* and this had indeed burn a BIG hole in my wallet AGAIN. The bill was RM365 for the 7 of us and we were actually treating the 2 birthday boys. So, it's roughly 70 per pax. Huhu. Really broke. Apparently, I have been having expensive/good food (at least RM20 per meal) for the whole week. Argh! KILL ME!!!

The food was really yummylicious despite the guilt (an image of Annie saying FAT liao ahhhh!!!) I had while eating. I think she's gonna nag me more if she sees that I've been blogging about food only. LOL.

Kickin' Jack Nachos with beans and queso with a hint of seasoned beef with jalapeno Jack chesee and Margarita spice. Served wtih house-mad pico de gallo and sour cream. - RM 21.95

Not sure what's this as everyone started digging in the moment the food was served. LOL.

Fire-grilled Chicken & Portobello.
Fire grilled chicken breasts with a marinated Portobello mushroom served over zesty peppercorn sauce with loaded mashed potatoes (beef bacon) and seasonal veggies. - RM 32.95

Fire-Grilled Jalapeno Steak Quesadillas. Spicy jalapeno steak, melted pepper Jack cheese, jalapenos and fajita onions in fire-grilled tortilla.
Served with sour cream, house-made pico de gallo and ancho-ranch dressing - RM 29.95

Arabic & Lebanese Cuisine

WEEKS back, I decided to give a try to the famous Tarbush Restaurant that serves Arabic & Lebanese cuisine. Now qualifying as one of Kuala Lumpur's best dining experience, Tarbush has finally expanded to Penang. Hurray!

Located at Batu Ferringhi, it's actually quite easy to spot the place as it's just right next to The Ship. This would be their 4th branch I think.

The interior is quite classy I would say.

Arabic Coffee - RM 5
Ugh. I'm a coffee lover but I hate this!

Lemon Na' na - Expensive iced peppermint drink with lemon. Highly recommended if you love sour stuff like me. Hehe. It's a bit expensive I would say - RM 11

Appetizer: Tarbush Hommus - RM 12
It's chickpeas with Tahina sauce (sesame paste), garlic and parsley topped with olive oil.

After mixing altogether, you will get this. It's a strong flavoured dip and well, the reason I tried this out is because it's the house''s Signature Dish. Simply worth trying I would say.

The appetizer actually came with white radish, olives, cucumber and whatever you can see in the above pic. :)

Not forgetting the Lebanese Bread of course. All you need to do is wrap all of them up and savour it slowly. YUM~~~!

Tarbush Mixed Grill - Rm 35

Mouth watering isn't it? It's a medley of lamb chop, ShishTawook (skewered grilled chicken), Shish kebab (skewered grilled lamb) and lamb cubes. I love the garlic dip they gave. Simply mouth watering!!!

Kofta - RM 28
Last but not least, it's the baked juice minced lamb. So juicy that you keep wanting for more.
Highly recommended as it's my favorite dish of all. ^^

I guess that's about it. A simple short review from me. Hehe.

Yes. I'm back to the blogging world. Apart from the stressful pile of ~~shit~~ work I've been doing, there's nothing much to update actually. I could be given the title of 'Workaholic' nowadays. How silly it is as I used to call him that and now, I'm actually turning into one. LOL. Frankly speaking, I do not like what I am doing now but I guess that applies to most people, isn't it?

Last week, I ~~took 2 hours lunch break with Sharon and~~ went to MPH's bookfair for 2 days in a row. I got myself 9 books for only RM70. How cheap is that? I'm currently reading my third book. Haha! That's how boring I can be. -____-"

Anyways, here's my first attempt to try out LOMOGRAPHY. Lomography is about being in the moment, capturing it with your favourite Lomographic tool and producing effects like light leaks, vignette framing and deep saturated colours! I guess someone would be pretty excited when I talk about this. *cough*

Photos taken with a Lomo camera have high contrast, twisted colors and a noticeable vignette. Here's my first virgin shot!

No. I'm not that rich to own a new Minimo camera. I'm just simulating the effects of a Lomo camera. Cool isn't it? Still got plenty more to learn though! If and only if I'm that hardworking to learn. Blek!

The Cost of Being Tam Ciak

The sudden craving of beef noodles suddenly striked me as I was strolling along Jalan Alor, the heaven of food or casually known as 'Wai Sek Kai'. The normal stalls I would go for are always the Ichiban pork porridge at Sai Woo Restaurant, the hokkien char, dim sum, fried lala, ikan panggang, chicken wings and of cos mango lolo. *drool*

Not knowing the direction of the beef noodles stall, I sms-ed few friends (those I assume that they are always right in front of their computers!) and minutes later, I got the super detailed information on the stall's whereabout. Cool eh? No need GPS also can survive la! Hehehe.

Ngau Kee Beef Noodles stall is located at Tengkat Tung Shin and it's adjacent to Jln Alor. You will pass by landmarks like Mutiara Villa, Corona Inn, Muar, Max Kitchen & Restaurant and we took approximately 10 minutes walking there. That was around 5 pm and it's already opened! Some say it's opened 24 hours. Hmmm. Dkdc.

The beef noodles still lose to the one I had at Petaling Street but this one is less oily, Mum said. FOUR freaking hours after, after my shopping madness, I started to feel nauseous. I guess that's how CLEAN the beef noodles were. Parents were ok. Just me! I had diarrhoe for the following two days and GOSH! Why it has to be me all the time? Road side food is supposed to be the BEST yet DIRTY but I just couldn't resist. =(

Super Hokkien Mee

Many months ago (Yea! I took that long to blog about this), I decided to try out the Super Hokkien Mee in town. They start kinda early and business is so damn good that people have to wait for like so LONG for just ONE bowl of mee. That's when they start to get lansi. The 'sour face' auntie taking order straight away asked me "You wanna wait for an hour? If yes, I take your order". Cis. Really that good meh? I think they don't care if they can sell you that bowl of noodle as it won't make any difference to their business. What a bad service.

Are you really that 'super'?

Located at One Corner Cafe along Jalan Bawasah (behind Burmah Road's Giant Supermarket), the place was kinda full around 8 in the morning. Iskh iskh. My spicy hokkien mee came after 50 minutes and after my first sip of the soup, I don't think the hokkien mee is that 'super' also. ~~Maybe it's because of my eating partner who likes to bitch a lot. Yeah. You heard me. =P~~

What do I think about the food? It's sweet and I can taste the spiciness MOSTLY. I'm not a big fan of hokkien mee. In fact, I hated it when I first tasted it ages ago. LOL.

3 bucks + an hour of waiting + need to see muka masam auntie to order + need to get up early to get the food = No thanks!

The dumpling looks nice no? The fact is: It's expensive and SUX!

The service is so bad and this makes me wonder why people still wanna waste their time going back. Oh well. That's just my point of view. It's your choice to try it out. :)

Satay Oh Satay

Lately, I found a new place to dine! It's Ah' Basri Detoxified Satay House, located at Sungai Ara. If you're heading to Fisherman's Grill/Desaria/Pearl Garden, it's somewhere on your left. It's easier to locate at night because there will be a big brightly lighted 'SATAY' sign. I'm NOT a fan of satay but seriously, their SATAY is really yummylicious. I've been visiting the place at least once a week now. LOL.

Rice cube (Nasi himpit) - RM 1

Ketupat Palas (Pulut) - RM 0.50 ( I LOVE their LEMANG!!!!! )

They have a great assortment of satays here ranging from chicken, beef, lamb, deer, ostrich, horse, rabbit, duck, turkey, squid, prawn and fish. You can opt for rice set too. I love their TOMATO rice. Gosh. I think I love any tomato rice from anywhere. HAHA! I have yet to try all their satays as I always opt for the LAMB satay. Gosh. I'm like addicted to it already. Cis.

Meat/Satay Lovers. You can go for your food hunt now if you haven't try this out. Hehe. Oh ya. Did I mention their satay sauce is nice too? ^_^

Toast has always been my favorite. I used to love Old Town toast but recently it's always cold and the butter always come in one big piece! Even after I requested them to reheat my toast!!! YUCKS!

I heard that there's a better toast somewhere at Tanjung Bungah and till now, I have no chance to explore that yet. Hehe. Today, I'm gonna blog about Roti Bakar Kopitiam, located somewhere near Bukit Gambier/USM. They have a new branch at Penang Times Square now! Hehe. It has the same concept like Old Town, just that it's way cheaper and nicer!

Cousin Murphy was here for the weekend and as usual, I would bring my guest to taste the awesome local food in Penang. I think I fed him too much till he started to complain that his Penang trip was all about EATING only and how much gym effort he has wasted in such a short period. LOL.

We had lemak laksa at Balik Pulau and he said this is the BEST among all the things he tried here.

Well, this time, I decided to try something different. We drove about 15-20 mins from the laksa place to HERE. Let's see if you can guess what I am to blog.

It's a house somewhere in between Balik Pulau and Teluk Bahang.

They have this little corner where they cook and serve you assam laksa at RM1. Cheap no?
But I didn't try it as I don't really favour assam laksa. Hehe.

It looked tempting right? But from what I heard, the mee is not fully cooked.

NO. I did not go there for assam laksa. What else can you find in Balik Pulau other than DURIAN FARMS? Hehehe. YES! It's DURIAN SEASON again. I'm not really a durian fan and I guess it's nice to try. Next time I can bring my mumi dearest there again since she's a durian freak! ;))

What I like about this place is it gives a cosy 'kampung' feel.
You can sit down and enjoy the greenish scenery while feasting upon your durian.

Behind the house, you can find lots of durian trees.

We decided to ask the uncle to pick for us since I have no idea how to choose a yummylicious durian. We had 2 durians - both at the price of RM15 each. It's super yellowish, soft and creamy!!!!! AWESOME!

Uncle was quick to open up the durian. For me, it would have taken ages I think. ;)

LOOK how YELLOW it is!!!!!!!!!!! Hungry yet? Yes? No? Hehehe...

It's really finger licking good! ;)

Padang Brown

I have heard of it many times and just last month I had found out that I've been going to the wrong food court all this while. Located at Dato Keramat Road, you will be able to find a big football field and at each side of the field, you can find food stalls there. All are nice btw. ;)

You can find many varieties of food here.

Look closer and you might be able to spot me. ~~Please don't pay attention to the sleeveless lady in white. The one with the butt crack LOL.~~ Pic is taken using UWA (Ultra Wide Angle) lens. KEWL isn't it? =P

Pasembur. Still cannot win the one at Batu Lanchang market I would say.

Yong To Fu. Not a big fan but it's nice. ;)

Chai Kueh. It's stir fried vegetables(usually turnip) wrapped in crystal like dough skin.

Char Kueh Tiaw. I think you can't find a lousy char kueh tiaw stall in Penang.

This is Tee Nya Kuih with brown sugar syrup.
My first time testing this Chinese delicacy and I don't quite like it. Hehe.

Roti Babi. I still prefer the one I tried at Song River Cafe, Gurney.

Apparently, someone cannot stand not having hotdogs and ordered this crappy dish.
Totally not recommended.

Apom Balik which is pretty normal. Who knows where to get nice Apom in Penang??!!?!

I think my collection of pix is pretty complete until I realized I didn't snap a pix of the nice popiah they have!!!! You guys should see the long Q there. Everyone's aiming for the seafood popiah. Hehe.

Have you seen any events in life where they will describe to you that it's not being held during the Ghost Festival?

Have you seen any events in life where organizers put two dates? Something like "Date: 5th July (Chinese calendar - 5th month day 14th) 2009 (Monday)"

Will you protest on that? We are working in a multi-racial environment. Don't you think this will spark certain emotions from the non-Chinese? Those who are superstitious I mean. It really makes me wonder what is so difficult for people to check their own chinese date themselves if they are really that superstitious. Sheesh.

Apart from that, have you ever heard crappy announcement saying you will learn the moral values for each event so that they can apply them on work and also daily activities? Don't you think it's a bit fussy? I really have zero idea how people can think like that. It sounds like as if we are attending some moral lessons in school. "Class! Today we will be learning on Gotong-Royong. Please learn the concept of doing things together and helping each other in the spirit of goodwill".

I really wonder what people will think after that annoucement is being sent out. Surely, I'll feel something like THIS!

All I can say is, OUCH.

So, if you're in my shoe, will you voice out your opinion to these bunch of narrow-minded peeps? Sigh.

Restaurant Khanna (Indian Cuisine)

Weeks ago, after reading Zeek's entry about this place, I decided to try it out straight. Like on the very same day. LOL. Yes! I'm slow in updating my blog lately! Pardon my laziness. I've been busy with work and that sucks. Not much slacking lately and I miss it. In fact, I'm still busy and I'm taking some time off to blog. Hahaha. DOH!

Here's a quick review of what I tried. Located at 67 Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah (which is near Northam Tower), it serves both North and South Indian Cuisine. What surprise me was the interior decorations and the portion/price of their food. Yes! They are affordable and come in large portion!

Just merely trying out BOKEH again. ;))

The price is quite affordable I would say.
At first glance, I thought it's some classy restaurant that serves expensive Indian food. ;))

On the left, they have this wine bar (proceed to the next pic) &
on the right, it's some lounge for you to relax and chill.

Don't know why I like this pic so much. ^_^

Everyone gets a basket of papadam and the unique thing is they have two
different sauces (mint & chutnet sauce) for you to dip your papadam in.

Rice Pullau (RM 4)

Palak Panir or Paneer (RM 6)
It's basically spinach and mustard leaves based curry dish eaten with bread such as roti or naan.
You can find cottage cheese in it too. My first try as I've never seen this anywhere.

Lamb Kofta Curry (Rm 8.50)
Kofta here means meatball that is popular in the Balkans, the Middle and Far East.

Puri - It's a deep fried unleavened bread about 4 inches in diameter
which puffs up when cooked and should be served at once.

Garlic Naan Set with Fish Masala (RM 9+) -
Their naan is quite thick I would say. Compared to the ones I tried so far.

Almond Kulfi (RM 5)
Normally made from milk flavoured with almond/mango and it's creamier compared to ice cream. Not my favourite but it's worth a try. ;)

I just found out that they are having promotion! Cool leh? :P

I managed to sell off two of my hamster babies to a little boy yesterday. 10 bucks each. Not bad eh? LOL. Today, I got another call from a BOY (again) and he wanted the rest of babies. Where are all the gals ahhh?!!!???!! Second transaction failed as the boy did not bring any money with him. Too bad he's not CUTE ~~and I'm racist~~! Else I'll give him all my hammies for FREE!!!

Restoran Kapitan vs Sri Ananda Bahwan Restaurant

Both serve northern and southern Indian Cuisine (till now, I don't know how to differentiate which is north and which is south LOL) and which one I like best? Hmmm...

I never knew the existence of Restoran Kapitan until some noobie brought me there. Blek. It's kinda hidden as it's behind some shop lots, right opposite QB Mall. There are two more branches at Chulia Street and Gurney too. What people like most here? The TANDOORI ~~chikin~~ chicken of course. *drool*

They have plain naan, garlic naan, cheese naan, butter naan and being a cheese lover,
I took the cheese one of course! >< ~RM8

Briyani Rice with Mutton. ~RM7

This is some yogurt paste with onions which taste good with the briyani rice.

Mostly, these are the 2 primary items that we order so there's not much to recommend here. Perhaps, you can tell me what to order during my next visit? =P

As for Sri Ananda Bahwan Restaurant, I've been there nth times and though it's far, I love it so much that I don't mind driving there once in a while. Hehe. The place is located at Tanjung Bungah, which is about 45 mins from where I stay. Huhu.

Normally, I would try their banana leaf rice with all sort of dishes especially their VEGETARIAN ~~chikin~~ chicken! It's a MUST to try as it tastes exactly like ~~chikin~~ chicken!!! Hehehe. Here are what we ordered during our last visit. We decided to try something different this time! ;)

Drink to recommend aside their Indian Lassi. Banana Milkshake! Love it so much!

Ghee Rice (Basmati Rice with Ghee). Simply frangrant.

Mutton Rogan Josh (mutton + 9 types of spices + cashewnut tomato gravy) ~RM 8
We conclude that this is the BEST dish we ordered. ;)

Tauhu Butter Masala (fried tofu + tomato gravy + butter masala)
I love this too. ><

Malai Kabab (Boneless chicken marinated with cream yogurt masala baked in oven)
Nothing special except the description. For me, it's rather dry. Huhu.

Aloo Parotha (atta bread stuffed with potato masala)
I love this too.

Lighting wasn't good so I didn't take that many pics. But these are the ones that are nice. Hehe. Oh ya!!! I love their Parotha (first few pages, last item under Parotha category DOH) too! Forgot the name but it's stuffed with prawns, vegetables, herbs, spices, etc.

The verdict? It's of course Sri Ananda Bahwan Restaurant!!!!! What say you? Any other Indian Cuisine to recommend me? =P

Today, when I got back from work, I found him like THIS!!!!!!

GOSH! I thought he is dead so I tried to take him out from the cage. He squeaked! Must be in deep pain I guess. They always fight. Just like my old hamster, Sooty and Tooty. Huhu. That's my Pancake btw. Cupcake is still active, running around the cage with no single scratch. Argh. BAD hammy!!!!! Both are male so when they fight, it's even worse ar? Huhu.

Now I just hope he can survive! =( =( =(

It's really a nice experience breeding hamsters and watching them grow. I was quite surprised when I see how fast they can grow and stand on their own feet! Mario Ristorante was jam packed with people that night. We left around 6.30 and only reached Batu Ferringhi about 8. We were 30 minutes late and the captain was reluctant to give us our table. Then, he grumbled to his waiter saying we were late and it's not their fault. YES. Right in front of us. Sheesh. However, the waitress was very friendly and recommended us what's nice one by one. A pretty Indian lady I would say. Hehe.

Fruit Punch - RM 9.90. Nice when it's cold and too sweet when it's not.

Set dinner was like RM 120++ per pax and they had limited à la carte for you to order that night. They will first produce you with their set dinner menu and the à la carte menu will be given upon request only. Smart no? We ordered one set dinner and one à la carte of course and that costed him nearly 200 bucks. It's nice to be a gal no? Oppss. =P

Appetizer: Fresh salad with duck meat.
I'll give 5/10 for this since I'm not a big fan of duck. LOL.

This would be my favourite of that night! CLAM CHOWDER which is thick and creamy!
9/10!!! A MUST try!!

Now, I'm drooling for it again. Even the bun is good.

My medium rare steak. The side dishes were great too. 7.5/10

His chicken à la carte which is around 40+.

Dessert - a small slice of chocolate cake and a scoop of ice cream.
They had another option which is cheese cake which I think is huge compared to this. Huhu.

The BF said Mario Ristorante is known for their specialty in PASTA but the choice was VERY limited that night sadly. Nevermind. There will be a next time but definitely not on February the 14th! LOL! For more info, read CKLam's detailed review about this Italian restaurant.

My buddy, Mr. Lam is here for business trip and we decided to try out Ingolf's Kneipe German Restaurant & Bar at Tanjung Bungah AGAIN. The last time we went, the shop was closed for the day. Monday I supposed. This is the nth time I've been there and I really love their food!!!!!! It's a MUST to try okay. Yummylicious German Food. Their signature dish is none other than their freshly made German sausages of course! Blogging about this is making me really hungry since it's dinner time soon! Gonna blog about this fast. Hehehe.

The restaurant has two storeys and normally I would pick the first floor. Heheh.

The environment is cosy and it's perfect for any occasion.

Lemon Tea (RM 2)

Appetizer: Baked Cheese Potatoboat (RM8.80)

Side dish: Sauerkraut (RM 5) - finely sliced white cabbage fermented in brine

Mixed Grill (RM 23.80) which is really large in portion.

This is a MUST to have. Mushroom sauce that came with our mixed grill. Additional sauce is RM 3.
I totally LOVE it to bits!!!!

That's what we had for two. Their food portion is big and it's really worth the money I would say. Altogether, it's only around 50+. Nice isn't it?

Kimberly Street

A month ago, Uncle was here for a short trip in Penang and his friend took him to Kimberly Street. He loves the food there so much that he wanted me to bring him there again the next day. Of course, the noob me had a hard way finding the place. Huhu. Again today after work, I was craving for their dessert and sadly, the stall is closed for the day!!! KNS!!!

This is what we had that night. Some desserts with mixture of longan, gingko nuts, etc.

Surprisingly, the char kueh tiaw (CKT) is nice too.

The location of the CKT is right in front of Kedai Kopi Sin Guat Keong and the stall selling dessert is just parallel to it. I'll give it 8/10. Hehe. Oh well. The main motive to Kimberly Street is not because of the CKT of course. It's because of THIS!!!!!!!!

The texture of the 'kueh' is a bit thick though.

RM 5 and I'll rate it 7 out of 10. Huhu. I will order only duck meat & egg next time.
Don't know what else they added. Some intestines I guess.

It's the DUCK MEAT KUEH CHAP, available only during dinner time, around 6+ onwards. It's also one of the roadside stall along Kimberly Street. I would say it's one of the nice ones I tried so far in Penang. At least I finished the whole bowl. Hahaha. Still, Kuching's kueh chap (Bangkok one too) is the BEST!

I came home and I found Cheeky dead. I guess his 'batch' couldn't last that long. I got him last September and his partner in crime (Chocky) only survived for a few days with me. Huhu.

I thought I'm left with 2 Roborovski hamsters but apparently it's NOT! Yesterday while trying to clean the cage, I heard squeaking sound and when I looked closely, I saw little pink pups hiding beneath one of my hamsters! GOSH! I thought my hamsters are all MALE but they are NOT! OMG OMG OMG! I didn't even notice my hamster getting fatter/pregnant!!! Iskh iksh.

Food Hunting During the Weekend

My wound is slowly recovering and it still hurts whenever I bend my knee. My left ribcage still hurts whenever I laugh or move too much and I don't know why. Gee. Hopefully I'll recover before CNY! Anyways, thanks for the concern! Hehe.

My youngest uncle is back from OZ and he said Kuching is so bored that he decided to pay me a visit in Penang. He was here for 5 days and on the first day, he went Danuk, a town which is about an hour drive from Hatyai, Thailand if I am not mistaken. I wanted to follow him so badly that I tried getting myself a fake MC but failed (after waiting for like an hour in the clinic!!!!!). The bitch fat doctor was too smart to know it! Damn. I went back to check on my wound and flu the very next day and this time, this guy doctor asked if I wanted MC! Gosh. If and only if he's the one seeing me when I truly needed one! And of course, I went back to work since I don't need the MC. How stupid is that? Just take the MC and slack at home la! My mentor said that to me. @_@

Oh well. Here are some random pics of where I took my uncle to.

Not forgetting Jelutong's hawker stalls near Leng Lui Tong Soi. Gosh! I love their prawn noodles so much! I mean their prawn mihun as I don't eat the yellow mee. Hehe. I brought him to taste Penang seafood at Hai Boey, Teluk Kumbar too. We ordered 8 dishes for 10 pax but the other 4 had some miscommunications with us and they went Tambun instead. DOH! The 4 of you need to pay us at least 10% of the bill I tell you!!! LOL. In the end, the 6 of us gobbled up 6 of the dishes we ordered. We're damn good no? Hehe. More pics if I managed to copy from uncle's digicam. ;)

Now, should I say this again? I need to diet so badly! Like Annie said, I'm getting chubbier. Sigh. Chubby Erin is coming back for CNY this Friday! Yippie! Oh boy. How to resist food back in Kuching? I'll come back few kgs more as usual. Haih.

Pok Kai

"Pok Kai" is a very common profanity in Cantonese. It means you are broke financially or you fall on the street. The sad thing is I pok kai at my office's carpark last Friday. Huhu. It was a terrible fall as I tripped hard on my tummy till I cannot get up. My ribcage hurts now!!! My boss' hubby was behind and I wonder if he saw me falling. Worst of all, he might see my panties! GOSH! How embarassing is that? Then my boss came and asked if I'm all right. The lame thing she asked was "you're not pregnant right?" I was like WTF!??!!?!! GRRR! Celaka betul I tell you. What a question to ask!!! I was pissed of course! Sheesh.

Huhu. Now I can't bend my knees or wear tight jeans. Haih. Then, today, when we were at some car accessories shop, my uncle dropped a steering lock on my feet!!! Gosh. Though I'm fattened with lots and lots of good food this whole weekend, it's still a bad weekend, don't you think? Sigh.

Is this year really bad for those born in the year of doggy, Sharon?? That's what she said and I'm starting to believe it. LOL. Oppss. Did I just reveal how old I am? Kekekeke. I really pray hard that I won't get fined for running a red light exactly on 1st of January this year! Huhu! That would be another unlucky thing again this year. =(

Last Saturday was just nice. No RAIN at all luckily. We started our journey at about 9 and it only took us like 40-50 minutes to reach. Along the way, we could see lots and lots of green paddy fields!

Oh ya. Where were we heading to? It's SUNGAI PETANI (SP) of course! SP is a town in Kedah and is said as the second largest town in Kedah after Alor Star. Where else can you find a huge concentration of paddy fields and farmers other than this town? That's why it's called Sungai Petani a.k.a. Farmer's River! Hmmm. What else you wish to know? LOL. Dig more here.

More green!

Brunch was at a random cafe called Apex Coffee (like those old town kopitiam) and they just opened a new branch here in Penang. Seriously, I think the food is overpriced and they come in small portion!!! I won't wanna step back to that cafe again. Too bad.

Finally, we reached Cinta Sayang Golf & Country Resort. The main motive to go SP was to play GOLF of course! Yeah! Imagine the clumsy me playing golf! Huhu. Never try never know ma right? Hehe.

Oh well. It was fun learning and I wish to go again! The club is a bit heavy though and my left arm was sore the next day. Noob me. Hehehe. Next, we went exploring and looks like SP has a water themepark too. ;)

Then, we went SP town to explore for FOOD of course!!! Hiak hiak. Yes! I'm getting chubbier! Thank you for the nice compliments peeps! =P

I did a research and they said somewhere near the bus station, there's this stall selling yummylicious peanut ice blended drink. So we went hunting for the bus station. It wasn't hard finding but still, we need some aid from the locals first. LOL. On your way to town, as soon as you spot Courts Mammoth on your left, do turn RIGHT at the next junction ya? That's where the bus station is. Now, the hard part is to track down the stall! Why? Because they have 3 same stalls selling ice blended drinks!!!!!!!! Argh!!! We settled with the stall with an old man and his old wife instead, thinking that they might be doing this business for the longest time, no? Hehe.

It was superb that I ordered two of this!!!!!! Each at the cost of RM 1.80 but it's totally worth it! They blend the peanut nicely and add coco powder on top of the drink. It's a MUST TO TRY if you ever step into this little town.

We ordered ice kacang too but NAH. Next time, I'll opt for their other famous drinks like Ice Blended Red Bean and Ice Blended Corn.

You guys can watch a video of some local food programme here if you're interested. And from that clip, I found out that we went to the wrong stall. Since there are 3 stalls, the right one should be the one in the MIDDLE! LOL. But nevermind. The ones we had were awesome too. 33 years of experience doing ice blended eh?

Before I end, here's a peek of the noob me, playing GOLF. Hiak! Hiak! I know. Wearing slippers and play golf eh? Next time, I'll dressed up like a PRO! Huhu.

Maxwell Hill, Taiping

The journey from hotel to Maxwell Hill was only 5 minutes. We drove there at 7+ and we're the second group that morning. Some came at 7.50 but the 8 am slot was full and they had to wait for the next slot at 9. Pity. Remember! They start at 8 and ends at 4! =P

The first group got this and it's not as cool as our jeep. ;)

Our open-air jeep!!! Cool right? Can feel the morning breeze on the face for like 20 mins on our way up.

The ride up was scary as the driver did not hesitate at each turnings (esp those 70-80 degrees turnings!!!) and he was very very very fast!!!!! Okay!!! I admit I was screaming my lungs out at the beginning. ONLY AT THE BEGINNING. It was like a roller coaster ride. I felt like I will get thrown out from the jeep anytime. It's so COOL!!!!!!! LOL.

There's actually a chalet/hotel on top of the hill for you to stay and spend the night over.
It's not that pricey too but doubt if you will get any entertainment at night.

The nice driver took us up to the very peak and briefly introduced us to Taiping. Hehe. What a nice chap.

Taiping ZOO

What will you do if you have no where to go in a typical little town at 5 in the evening? The ZOO of course!!! *I like to move it, move it!!!*

12 for adults and 8 for kiddos. Oh. They have night safari at the rate of 18! I really wonder how it is like. Spooky? I doubt I can see anything though.

Located opposite the fire brigade, you can spot this food court easily and they are famous for their yong tofu! At first, I thought it's operated by Chinese but sadly again, it's gonna be Malay food. Argh. That's the outcome when not much research is done before the food quest!!! Well, it turned out to be GOOD actually. Kekeke.

We give this 7.5/10. ;)

Road Trip to Taiping

The weather was disappointing. Just take a look at the black gloomy clouds. Sigh. We could only pray hard that it won't be raining when we reached Taiping. Yes! Taiping! I've never been there and the BORED me decided to drive there for 'my first adventure of the year'. LOL.

Rain rain go away, come again another day.

It's only an hour's drive from Penang if you speed all the way there. ;)

Taiping is a town in the state of Perak, Malaysia.

Yes! Taiping here I come!

Darn clouds!!!

It is said that Taiping is the wettest town in Peninsular Malaysia. The average annual rainfall is about 4,000mm while the peninsula’s average is 2,000mm – 2,500mm. Maybe that's why you'll get to see more GREEN stuff in this little town. And yes! MORE RAIN!!!

Everything was in a rush when we planned for this trip so I didn't check out much on the food. The printer failed at the very last minute (babi office printer you suxxx!!!) so I had to spend some time drawing the map. Argh!!! Still, my 'nicely drawn' map didn't help that much and we got lost in town. So, we decided to hunt food first to satisfy our growling ***kili kulu*** tummies. LOL!

First stop was at Restoran Doli, Jln Tupai for their famous char kueh tiaw since everyone's been blogging about it!!!

The special kueh tiaw goreng is RM 8 but we opted for the cheaper one (RM3.50).

5/10 - Definitely not my cup of tea

6/10 - Kuching's Mee Rebus is way nicer!!!

We then proceeded to Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut) which is approximately 1250m above sea level. I didn't put much hope as it was still drizzling ***bang head against the wall***. Maxwell Hill is not as developed compared to Cameron/Genting and you need a four-wheel drive jeep to go to the top of the hill. Since private vehicles are not allowed to enter, the resort authority caters to this service. The website states that the jeep service intervals is from 7.00am to 6.00pm daily and when we reached there about 3 pm, the guy told us that we had to come back the very next day! GOSH! How disappointing was that? Huhu. Anyways, it was still drizzling so we decided to try again the next day at 8 am!

FYI, the ticketing booth starts operating at 7.30 am and the jeep service starts at 8 am. It's every hour interval till 4 pm!!!!!!! This is the 100% correct information you can get from crappyhead@blogspot.com! Don't trust any other website.

Fui yoh! Lame or not? HAHAHA! Since Taiping is so small, I suggest that you buy the ticket early and return later for the 'cool ride' up. You can hike all the way up too if you like and that might take you 4-5 hours. Hehe.

Since there's nothing to do and ample of time to kill before hunting for food again, we decided to go for a boat ride at the oh-so-famous Taiping Lake Garden.

Next, we drove around town and from the list of food to grab in Taiping, we only have 'cendol at Jalan Barrack'. Written on the map was Jalan Berak (berak in Malay = shit/poo) and I was like WTF when I drew the map. LOL!!! It should be easy to spot a stall selling cendol, don't you think? We found this instead.

YES! What a funny name! Bismillah Cendol. In fact, one of Taiping's famous mamak stall is Roti Canai Bismillah Restaurant. Kakaka...

7/10 and it's only RM1.10!

I would say it's on par with Penang's famous cendol. Seriously! Next, we went to Larut Matang food court to try out the local food.

Indian Popiah for 60 cents.

This is one that I can never find anywhere in Penang or Kuching. There are really a lot of popiah stalls in this food court! Amazing. How to do business like that?

Yummy satay. I'm not a fan of satay seriously but I ended up wanting for more. WTF!

A quiet dinner during Christmas and NYE was all I asked for. I don't see the need of jamming all the way down town to celebrate at some fancy restaurant or going clubbing with friends (as if I'll tag along and go clubbing la!!!). As long as you're with your loved ones, nothing else matter right? Hehe.

The first day of 2009 was splendid and boy, I had a great time! Lunch was at Paddington House of Pancakes (I've been craving for this for ages!!!).

Being a BIG FAN of Adam Sandler, how could I miss his only movie of the year???

We then proceeded to Teluk Tempoyak (Tempoyak Bay), a Malay fishing village located at the south part of Batu Maung. Those in Penang, you should know where the Free Industrial Zone (FIZ) is right? Drive all the way straight until you see the Batu Maung War Museum on your left. Go slow here and you'll see a signboard that directs you to turn left to Teluk Tempoyak. On your way up, you'll get to see a magnificient view of the bay. There are two restaurants so we opted for the one with the seaview of course. It was raining earlier, so the view wasn't that nice sadly. Huhu. Some of the pictures (the nice ones of course!!!) here are taken from this site, so do check it out if you're interested. ;)

Yes! I revisited FLYING CHILLIES again as I couldn't stop thinking of their PAAD THAI!!!! It's my favorite rice noodles of all time!

My first try on their Green Curry. Highly recommended too! ;) -- RM 15

I couldn't decide what to drink so the waitress recommended me to try their DRINKS OF THE DAY.
It's RM15 and she pointed out the size of one glass. I thought it's big so why not for the price of RM15.

My first stop was at Carl's Junior. I've always loved their burgers!! The thought of Carl's Junior is making me hungry liao. Argh! When will we have this in Penang ahhh!!! >___<

Expensive but it's bringing me straight to heaven after just ONE bite. ;)

My next stop was at Wendy's. I have never tried this and before that, Banana told me it's a MUST to try their quarter pound and their frost! Yum.

Wendy's is way cheaper than Carl's Junior. Their pricing is around the same with McD.

Penguin, my MMU junior (he appeared few times in my blog before) is in Penang for training and since he can claim his dinner budget, we decided to head out to Ingolf’s Kneipe German Restaurant for some yummy German food! It took me nearly an hour to drive to Tanjung Bungah and unfortunately, the restaurant is closed on every MONDAY! WTF. We ended up trying Bulgarian food instead and as first timer, I would say it's nice. Hehe. It's free somemore, come on. ;)

Now you can bring your bf/gf to try as it's kinda romantic I would say. LOL.

Happy Seed with Crystal Soil

Got this empty glass from Jusco for RM5.

Place some crystal soil (mine is pink and white) and add water to it. Ratio is like 1:60 and you have to soak in water for a few hours. Just drain out the excess water if you feel like it's 100% complete.

Sop in water.

The crystals are getting bigger no?

And now, it's time for the magic bean. I got it for RM 1 at Sunway Pyramid. For the crystal soil, it's RM 3.90 per packet.

I chose the one with tagging 'Happy Day'!

You flip it around and you get a happy face. Cute isn't it?

Soak in water for 5-10 minutes.

Then the smiley will get loosen.

And become like this!

Place the root on top of the soil.

Place the seed in and make sure it's covered. Let's just watch and see what we will have soon!

Hakka Restaurant

After watching Madagascar 2 *singing I like to move it, move it* at Sunway Pyramid, we went to Ying Ker Lou to try out their Hakka cuisine. I would recommend you to try out this place but do bear in mind that all the dishes come in one size and though the price is standard, the quantity is small.

As usual, pictures with little bit of crap... ;)

Lei Cha (擂茶) is a Hakka tea-based beverage or gruel consisting of a mix of tea leaves that are ground or pounded together with various roasted nuts, seeds, and grains.

Some Hakka Mee which was nice but I only had a small portion as
one bowl was being shared with 9 other ppl. LOL. Just trying ma. ;)

Some normal fu rong egg with chinese sausage.

Before the food was served, me and Chloe sneaked out and bought a birthday cake. LOL. No one noticed it until the waitress took it out and placed it on our table. Tiramisu cake from Bread Story is awesome! ;)
